Fall 2017 GROW EVENT
Hey DioNeb youth!
Are you ready to GROW in faith, GROW in service and GROW in community?
Our next GROW event will be
Saturday, October 28th at St. James, Fremont.
10 am - 4pm
Tentative Schedule:
10 am gathering and introduction to our service project
10:30 -12:30 Service Project
12:30 - 1:30 Lunch
1:30 - 3:00 Retreat
3 pm Closing Eucharist
4 pm Dismiss
Service Project Information:
We will partner with Youth Emergency Services (YES), an Omaha based organization that serves homeless teens in the metro area. Did you know any given night, there are nearly 300 homeless teenagers in Omaha?
YES serves homeless and at-risk youth age 12-21 by providing critically-needed resources which empower them to become self-sufficient. They operate a Street Outreach, An Emergency Shelter, Transitional Housing, Mentoring Services, a much more.
Two of their high priority needs are food and clothing, so we are taking on a couple projects to support their mission.
We will:
- make some food for the emergency shelter
- hold a teen clothing drive
- Collect new bath towels and laundry detergent.

Retreat Information:
Our October GROW event happens to fall on the Feast of Simon and Jude. Sometimes thought of as lesser known apostles, we'll learn more about these two followers of Christ; and take a deeper look at the assigned scriptures for the day with a guided, small group scripture study on the Gospel reading.
Worship:
We will conclude our time together with a blessing of our collected items and Holy Eucharist.
